In June 2010, Reliance
Industries (RIL) bought a 96% stake in Infotel Broadband Services Limited
(IBSL) for ₹4,800 crore (US$700 million). Although unlisted, IBSL was the only company
that won broadband spectrum in all 22 circles in India in the 4G auction that took
place earlier that year.Jio soft launched on 27 December 2015 (the eve of what
would have been the 83rd birthday of Reliance Industries founder Dhirubhai
Ambani), with a beta for partners and employees, and became publicly available
on 5 September 2016.
On 5 July 2018, fixed line
broadband service named Gigafiber, was launched by the Reliance Industries
Limited's chairman Mukesh Ambani, during the company's Annual General Meeting.

Reliance Jio has been very
aggressive in the Indian, jio has always managed to surprise the users by
activating an add-on pack that offers them considerable data benefits on top of
what they get as a part of their subscribed plan. Reliance Jio has introduced
the Jio Digital pack where customers will be getting 2GB data per day for free.
The offer is introduced as a top-up plan on an already recharged data plan.
The Jio Digital Pack got
activated recently and it will end on July 30, as mentioned in the MyJio app.
It is available to select users but the pack was visible on our Jio number. The
pack is not available on the postpaid connections.

On the other hand, the
Digital Pack will only be available to those users who have an active Reliance
Jio prepaid plan.
Users will definitely be
excited to get 2GB data daily as part of this offer.
it should be noted that the
2GB additional daily data benefit will be valid till July 30 and July 31 for
some users.
Moreover, it is also not
clear whether Jio has set a criterion to choose the numbers that will be
eligible for this offer. The basis of selection criteria of the numbers to whom
the offer is available is not very clear and it is also not clear if the offer
is bundled up with the existing voice and data packs. We are also not sure when
this pack was bundled with the existing data and voice combo pack. Since the
pack is an add-on, your calls and SMS benefits will remain the same as the
subscribed pack, except the data part.
Monsoon Hungama offer:
Recently, Jio introduced the
Monsoon Hungama offer where one could buy a smartphone at Rs 501 in exchange
for an old 2G, 3G or non-Vo-LTE 4G. As per the terms and conditions on their
website, the offer is valid only when the customer goes for a Rs 594 Reliance
Jio recharge plan. With the Rs 594 plan, the subscriber would get 500 MB data,
unlimited calls and other SMS benefits and the validity of the pack would be
for 6 months. The total cost of the exchanged phone along with the recharge
plan would sum up to Rs 1,095.
